Pressure and Shear Force Sensitive Films

A new approach for making pressure and shear force surface measurements is under development! The technology is based on 3D deformation measurements of the elastic film (SSF - Stress Sensitive Film) applied on the model surface.

It means that the SSF Technology can be used in any transparent flow; the sensitivity can be adjusted in accordance with the dynamic range of the stresses acting on the model surface.

The first measurements conducted in water flow (right image, flow velocity 0.1-1m/s) and in low-speed air flow (left image, 5-15m/s) demonstrated method feasibility.

Pressure and shear force fields can be recorded simultaneously to investigate non-steady flow phenomena; the SSF cut-off frequency can be adjusted in the range 0-50 KHz.
