Low-Speed Measurements

The most challenging field of application for PSP is low-speed measurements. Standard PSP formulations have a pressure sensitivity of 600-1200Pa per 1% of intensity variation and a temperature sensitivity of about 600-1000Pa per degree Centigrade.

The pressure variation on the object moving with a velocity of 10m/s is only about 50..150Pa which implies severe requirements on the accuracy of intensity measurements, the uncertainty in the temperature field on the surface under study, and the stability of the image detector and excitation light sources. An additional problem is possible model deformation and displacement relative to the light source.

A possible practical solution is the use of Bi-Luminophore PSP with low temperature sensitivity.

Flow velocity is ~36m/s; wheel rotation velocity is ~72 RPS.
